I wonder what's left inside of this tiny strip of abandoned stores. Perhaps ghosts of the past or some sort of creepy conspiracy or maybe even some ghouls? In Arabic folklore a ghoul is a demonic jinn that lives in uninhabited places like deserts and graveyards, luring unsuspecting travelers away in order to eat them. When I was a little girl spending my summers in Morocco I was always afraid of the dark at my grandmother's gigantic house, frightened of the bad jinns and ghouls that may be lurking in the shadows.
My mom also calls me a ghoul when I eat too much.

There is an urge to tell a story--a quiet story, a melancholy story, a story of contentment, a story of desolation and resignation. Likewise, there is the urge to listen to one word and two words, so many words strung together chaotically, slowly building upwards and upwards.
